Yahoo China and Koubei on separate path
Yahoo China would be demerged from Koubei.com (口碑网) as part of its effort to realise the dream of “Big Taobao” strategy. The news come from Sina.com this morning.
Controlled by Alibaba group, both Yahoo China and Koubei.com are targeting for consumer to consumer market and was put together as a bundle to serve China Internet users ever since June last year.
The injection of Koubei.com into Taoabo.com raise the concern that what’s going to happen in Yahoo China in the near future.
Speculations about Yahoo China were rife shortly after Yahoo and Microsoft has reached a 10-year agreement late last month determined to outpace Google, the most powerful search engine in the world. Yet the search tie-up between Yahoo and Microsoft doesn’t affect Yahoo’s China properties.
