China largest B2B platform seeks expansion in Shenzhen

Reported by Shenzhen Post on 24, March, senior vice president of Alibaba Group, Jin Jian Hang confirmed that the B2B corporation would set up its Southern headquarters base in Shenzhen. the location and detail plan has yet been worked out.

Mr Jin said Alibaba, which owns China C2C Taobao, China wholesaler Aliexpress would take advantage of the highly populated SMEs community in the Pearl River Delta Region.  According to statistics, Shenzhen’s e-commerce providers have currently kept more than 75 million people at work.

In 2009, the total commodity exports of Alibaba B2B Company broke through 30 billion U.S. dollars, of which that of the Pearl River Delta account for about 25%, he continued. The B2B eCommerce company has scheduled its 2009 annual general meeting in Shenzhen in May.

Mr Jin also suggested that the Shenzhen authorities took more effective and targeted initiatives to support the development of SMEs, including more aggressive breakthrough and innovation on the issue of SMEs’ financing and introduction of qualified personnel, etc.
