China’s worries over overheating economy triggering rate rise ease a bit soon after the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced January inflation benchmark today.

China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) was up 1.5 percent  year on year in January 2010, but delightfully 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous month, 2009. the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced.

 The Producer Price Index (PPI), the parameter at the wholesale level,  increased by 4.3  percent  year on year during the same period, increasing from 1.7 percent in December 2009 when the figure ended 12 months of decline.

Prices of production materials rose 5.5% from a year earlier. Prices of products in the mining sector jumped 31.4%, prices of products in the raw material industry climbed 8.6%, and prices of products in the processing industry edged up 0.8% year on year.

Consumer goods prices went down 1.8% compared with those in the corresponding period of last year. There was a 2.2% rise in food prices, and a 1.0% growth in the prices of clothing. Price of daily consumer goods remained unchanged. Prices of consumer durables went down 1.8% year on year.

Purchasing prices of raw materials, fuel and power surged 8.0% from a year earlier in January.
