China Buyers roll in to Hong Kong Trade Fairs
China consumers is expected to freshen up Hong Kong trade shows in the forthcoming months. In the next few weeks, the 105th Canton Fair and a couple of Hong Kong Trade Fairs will be taking place.
Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Executive Director Fred Lam briefed the media in a radio program last week that buyers from the mainland China would give a boost to Hong Kong’s trade fairs business.
Against the background that European and U.S. buyers fell 15 percent amid economic firestorm, HKTDC reckoned the gap would be partially filled up by China buyers.
Aliuser at Alirens.com found a new survey conducted by HKTDC in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan and Shenyang from October 2008 to early 2009, indicated consumers preferred Hong Kong food to those made on the mainland due to safety concerns.
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) expansion project, which has been completed at a cost of HK$1.4 billion, will be used, for the first time, at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair from 13 to 16th in April.
