Alisoft and Alibaba Group Research Institute huddle together
Chess is a game of position. A mind game requires thought and calculation of the value of each move in connection to long-term tactics and ultimate goals. Alibaba Group’s CEO and chairman Jack Ma made his chess move by bringing Alisoft and Alibaba Group Research Institute together under one entity, prior to its 10th anniversary in September.
The merger unwrapped yesterday would create a world-class infrastructure to fulfil the ultimate goal of “Big Alibaba” and “Big Taobao” business strategies, according to its announcement.
Alisoft, which has its inception in 2007, is the software application power house within the China Internet Group.
Alibaba Group Research Institute was established at the end of last year and has also achieved a number of important technological breakthroughs, such as swift progress in the areas of cloud computing and search technology.
“Alibaba Group embarked on a strategic planning venture that led to the creation of our “Big Taobao” and “Big Alibaba” strategies… the most important task ahead will be to ensure success of the Big platform strategies, and our technology infrastructure will a crucial, foundational component of those strategies.” Mr Ma said.
Mr Ma is expected to detail out his ten-year plan in September as it will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
